Who are we?


We are a community group with charitable status. We run family, school and community events locally and also regionally with partner groups.

Our commitment is to local heritage including architecture, archaeology, culture, natural history & arts. More....

The Thorney Society runs the Thorney Heritage Museum showing a collection bringing the area’s history alive from ancient to modern times.

What's Happening
     

Thorney Heritage Museum and Abbey Church now have tactile Braille and large text guidebooks.

The Heritage Lottery Fund has made a lasting difference for visually impaired people visiting Thorney, by funding Braille and large text books as guides around Thorney Abbey and Thorney Museum. Appointments for individuals or small groups may be made on 01733 270908 or online enquire@thorneysociety.co.uk. Books for visually impaired are for sale at the price of a normal hardback book - exact price here soon: Museum+large print; Museum+Braille and tactile pictures; Thorney Abbey+large print;Thorney Abbey+Braille and tactile pictures.
